What are the different types of dentures?

Dr. Qing uses specialized techniques to fabricate the most comfortable, stable, and natural-looking dentures. Since he produces dentures in the office, yours can be ready before you leave the office on your first visit.

Depending on your dental needs, you can choose from:

Partial dentures

Partial dentures replace several missing teeth. They’re usually made from acrylic frames with porcelain teeth attached to the frame. Partial dentures are held in place with a clip that snaps around your existing teeth.

Full dentures

Full dentures replace all your upper teeth, lower teeth, or both. They have an acrylic base that rests on your gums, creating a seal that holds the dentures in place.

Implant-supported dentures

Dental implants are inserted into your jawbone, then Dr. Qing attaches your dentures to the implants. He specializes in All-on-4® implants, using only four implants each for upper and lower dentures. You may get dentures that snap on and off the implants, or you can choose to have your dentures permanently attached.

What should I expect when getting dentures?

If you need to have teeth removed, cavities repaired, or any other dental work done, Dr. Qing takes care of it on your first visit. Then he takes an impression of your mouth and makes your same-day dentures.

After a tooth extraction, it takes time for your gums to heal, and the gums tend to change shape during the healing process. As a result, you need to have your dentures refitted after your gums are back to normal. However, that’s easily done in the office by Dr. Qing.

Patients who get a full set of removable dentures may also need to have their dentures refitted occasionally. Your mouth structure changes over time, which can make your dentures loose or painful even if they initially fit perfectly.

How should I take care of my dentures?

Patients with removable dentures need to take their dentures out every evening and use a soft-bristled brush and denture cleaner to thoroughly clean the denture’s surfaces. Don’t scrub too vigorously or you may damage the plastic.

Dentures should stay moist when they’re not in your mouth, so keep them in cold water or a soaking solution until the next morning.

If you have implant-supported dentures that stay fixed in your mouth, you should brush and floss twice daily. To floss fixed dentures, you need to use a water flosser or special floss with a firm end that you can slide under the dentures.
